The Waste of Electronics and Electrical Equipment Guidelines...
What is WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment)?
- The WEEE regulations (2006 no. 3289) is a new UK legislationdesigned to address the environmental impacts of watse electrical and electronic equipment.
- The regulations have been put in place to ensure that products are recycled using best available treatment, recovery and recycling techniques to ensure human health and high environmental protection.
- We cannot recycle it unless you return it, so our customers have an important role to play in helping us to recycle.
- Lava Computers will undertake their responsibility as both a Producer and a Distributor to dispose of these goods in line with European legislation.
What are Lava Computers doing about WEEE?
As a supplier of EEE (Electrical and Electronic Equipment), from the 1st July 2007, we are obliged to take back equipment on an old-for-new basis. In other words, if you buy a computer system from us, you may return the old one to us so that we may safely dispose of it in accordance with the regulations. This does not apply to other items (i.e return a TV for a PC).
What are Lava Computers Recycling?
We will breakdown your old PC and recycle each part in an appropriate manner. Different components contain different hazardous materials covered under the RoHS Directive. We can recycle all computer components and hardware or any item swapped like for like by ourselves (routers, external devices, monitors etc).
Carboard packaging is also a major focus for us with all new components and systems normally delivered in cardboard and plastic packaging. All cardboard we use is recycled and and plastic packaging that can be recycled is sent for reprocessing with the local authority.
What is the RoHS Directive?
